Storage and folding tips for tents that are not used for a long time

The storage and folding tips for tents that are not used for a long time are as follows:

First, preparatory work

Ensure the tent is dry: Before storing, make sure the tent is completely dry, free of water marks or moisture. Damp tents are prone to mold and bacterial growth, which affects their service life.

Clean the tent: Shake off the dust, leaves, soil and other debris on the surface of the tent, and check whether there are any stains or damages inside and outside the tent. If there are stains, they need to be cleaned first.

Check the accessories: Confirm that all the accessories of the tent, such as floor nails, wind ropes, and brackets, are complete, and conduct an inspection and cleaning.

Second, the steps for storage and folding

Remove the ground nails and wind ropes: First, take out all the ground nails and wind ropes of the tent and store them separately to avoid damage or loss during folding.

Separate the inner and outer tents: For double-layer tents, first separate the inner tent from the outer one. The inner tent is usually lightweight and can be folded and stored separately.

Folding inner tent

Lay the inner tent flat on the ground to ensure a smooth surface.

Fold along the long or wide side of the inner tent. Depending on the size and shape of the tent, it may need to be folded multiple times until the inner tent forms a compact rectangle or square.

Roll up the folded inner tent to expel as much air as possible and reduce its volume.

Folded outer tent

Also lay the outer tent flat on the ground to ensure a smooth surface.

Depending on the design of the outer tent, it may need to be folded in half or rolled up. Some outer tents have specific folding lines or marks. Fold them according to these instructions.

Put the folded outer tent into a storage bag or roll it up together with the inner tent for storage.

Folding stand

Remove the tent frame from the tube sleeve and classify it according to length and type.

For the retractable brackets, make sure they have been completely shortened to the minimum length.

Gently fold or roll up the stand and put it in the storage bag, or store it together with the tent cloth.

Put it in the storage bag:

Put the folded tent fabric and brackets into the dedicated storage bag.

If the storage bags have separate areas, it is best to place the tent fabric and the stand in different areas respectively to avoid mutual friction and damage.

Tighten the drawstring of the storage bag to ensure that the tent is compact and stable inside the bag.

Third, precautions

Avoid excessive folding: When folding the tent, avoid excessive twisting or folding to prevent damage to the tent fabric and frame.

Keep dry and well-ventilated: Store the stored tents in a dry and well-ventilated place to avoid dampness and mold.

Regular inspection: For tents that have not been used for a long time, it is recommended to regularly check their condition. If necessary, clean and maintain them.

Avoid heavy pressure: Do not place heavy objects on the storage bags to prevent damaging the tent or deforming the supports.

By following the above steps and precautions, you can correctly store and fold a tent that has not been used for a long time, ensuring it remains dry, clean and intact, and extending its service life.
